Just mere footsteps away from each other, you can find 2 abandoned homes along Leesville Road, the area of Timberlake, Campbell County, Virginia.
A stone’s throw, a neighbor, two properties abandoned and adjacent to one another. The first house, more modern, obviously underwent fire damage. Caution tape still lingered from a situation that occurred ages ago. The strong smell of soot still lingering after a hard rain. Charred remains of someone’s life now listless among trees and overgrown grass.
The second house is definitely a fair bit older. Constructed of just wooden boards and stone foundation settings. A chicken coop and shed behind it complete its desolate feel, tucked a little deeper into this wooded wayside.
This wooden house is practically a picturesque statement of a time before! The sofas have become mostly dust but are a retro reminder of that weird furniture grandparents of the 1990’s had. The screen door is haphazardly torn away from its hinges. No glass remains in the half open windows. Tress take root along the exterior walls of the home. One day to maybe swallow it hole.
Visible a bit from Fox Drive, one can simply park at the Lynchburg Church of Christ to take a gander at these hidden properties. Very recently it looks as if the burnt house has had some of the trees around it removed.
At one time the property was for sale and may be soon set for demolition. The humid sub tropical climate of central Virginia generally leads to advanced decay for many properties left open to the elements.
Where are these two abandoned house located? You can find them both with these coordinates. 37.325853, -79.227721.
