The Blanche Russell House is just off the 89-A route, right below the Marble Canyon area, Arizona.
With the large cliffs behind the rock house and the Colorado River running just nearby, who wouldn’t stay here? Blanche Russell chose to stay when here car broke down here in 1927. Upon seeing the beauty after being stuck for awhile she decided to buy the property and stay.
Many state online that she was part of the ‘The Ziegfeld Follies’. However there is no record of her as a dancer during the 1920’s and nothing states this as fact. The weather worn signs on site do not even say anything like this.
She stayed here for many years, enjoying the stark desert scenery. The landscape being more beautiful than words or photographs can describe. The Navajo Bridge landmark is right nearby, as well.
Where is the roadside stop of this cliff dwellers house located? You can find it with these coordinates. 36.746181, -111.751133.
