Okpo Land Amusement Park was formerly located at 116 Okpo-dong, in the city of Geoje, the South Gyeongsang Province of South Korea.
During its time, Okpo Land was the only amusement park on Geoje Island and thrived pretty well as such. The park boasted a pool, game rooms, several rides and 2 roller coasters. Unfortunately, Okpo Land and several families were hit with some serious tragedy when the Duck ride malfunctioned and fatally killed a young girl. Sources claim a few other accidents to have happened between this event and the final tragedy in 1999. The Duck ride slipped off the rail and capsized with a young girl inside. It is said she flew from the cart and died upon hitting the ground below.
How many accidents that occurred at Okpo Land are unknown but the final death closed the park over night. Everything was left exactly has it was on that final day for 12 years. Nature began to over run the abandoned amusement park and only the eager travel would ponder its fate. There are even pictures for the dangling capsized cart years after the accident.
Okpo Land was demolished in 2011 and is now allegedly the site of hotels.
Bing maps still shows the long forgotten amusement park from their aerial view.
