These 2 abandoned yet beautiful architectural structures lie at the intersection of Bulevardul Tomis and Strada Sulmona in the city of Constanta, Constanta County, Romania.
Constanta (known as Tomis historically) was founded in 600 BC and is the oldest populated city in Romania. It is no wonder that in the old city lay structures of untold history. Stylized in pre-Romantic and Genovese architectural styles that can only make one wonder what were these buildings used for.
What a home the red building could make with its fantastic mosaic around the 3rd story balcony. (See picture 1)
This second building has now become a facade and shell of its former self. Currently filled with garbage and rubble on one side and trees in the midst of the interior. There is no roof left to protect its foundation just an exterior that shouts elegance and history.
How long will they been abandoned? Could they be re-purposed into anything without being destroyed? Only time will tell.
