The Colden Mansion ruins are visible just off Route 17K beside Stone Castle Road in Coldenham, Montgomery, New York.
An 1859 engraving of the Colden Mansion.
Built in 1767 by Cadwallader Colden Jr. with the original estate being 3,000 acres including a farm and cemetery. To this day the area is known as Coldenham and East Coldenham for this reason. By the 1920’s the Coldenham’s sold their residence, by the 1930’s it was abandoned and continuously fell into disrepair. In 2000 it was added to the town’s listing of historic properties and in 2007 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
In more recent years the town has begun to add support beams to the structure to help maintain it from crumbling.
