The Decay and Ruins of Old Harbour Mogadishu in the Horn of Africa

The old abandoned Harbour of Mogadishu (The Seat of Shah or Xamar) is located in Mogadishu, Somalia, Africa.

From the 1880’s until 1936 this area was under Italian rule being known as Italian Somaliland, a colony for the Kingdom of Italy. For many years after this until 2011 it was under militant terrorist control. The town was ravaged by neglect and only recently has thoughts of reconstructing began. This is a slow and winding road as it is still a very difficult time since pirates and poverty still rule the area.

This beautiful place is so architecture destroyed and people have little control over changing it. There are bullet holes riddled in countless buildings, people are bribed or threatened to join groups or gangs, and foreign hostages are sometimes taken captive. Hopefully, the recede of the civil unrest will allow this wonderful place to regain its former glory.
